The VMHS Mathematics Department was recently asked about our opinion on the GEMDAS® Algebra Success® Training. The following is a summary of our comments.
Comments:
• Good instructional strategies that were easy and effective to implement in the classroom.
• Taught teachers new and different ways to create a positive learning environment that nurtures analytic learning.
• Created consistency among teachers for the teaching of a myriad of algebraic methods for problem solving, which will be beneficial in future courses for the exposed students.
• Different approach to teaching, with an emphasis on positivity.
• The in-services were hands-on, which the teachers enjoyed very much. Teachers also received posters illustrating and detailing some of the strategies and/or problem solving methods that were covered during the GEMDAS® training.
• Overall, very good service. We would recommend it for programs/departments who need a change of pace.
